Do plants feel pain ?

What is Pain?

Biologically, pain is a nervous system response to damage or potential harm.

Feeling pain involves:

Sensory neurons (nociceptors) detecting damage

Signals traveling to the brain

Conscious experience of pain

Humans and animals have these systems. But plants do not have:

Brains

Nerves

Consciousness (as we understand it)

So, from this definition, plants do not “feel” pain the way humans or animals do.

Do Plants Have Consciousness?

Most scientists agree that consciousness needs a brain.

Some researchers argue for a broader concept of intelligence and responsiveness.

But there’s no evidence that plants are consciously aware of pain or suffering.

plants do not feel pain because they lack a brain, a central nervous system, and pain receptors (nociceptors), which are essential for experiencing pain as animals do.
